Alexander Ivanovich Oparin (Russian: Алекса́ндр Ива́нович Опа́рин, Aleksandr Ivanovich Oparin; Born::March 2, 1894 [O.S. February 18, 1894], Uglich, Russia – Died::April 21, 1980, Moscow) was a Soviet biochemist notable for his contributions to the theory of the origin of life, and for his authorship of the book The Origin of Life.
