The Bible repeatedly documents the reality of this practice. For one the law code forbid anyone from engaging in this practice this. Secondly, it not only documents the neighboring nations engaging in this practice; the Biblical account reported certain Israelites, even Judean kings of line of David, had engaged in this practice.
