Regarding fossilised pollen:

  1. Do the grains become seperated from the original material and become as seperate grains again?
  2. If such grains settled in cracks, there would be a clear pattern, right?
  3. How common is it for fossils to dislodge from older (and generally lower?) layers and travel upwards?
