What it does

The Kidney's are two bean-shaped organs in your body, near the rib cage. This [organ] consists of the [Renal Capsule, Cortex, Medulla, and Renal Pelvis]. The Renal capsule is a thin, membrane around the kidneys that helps protect it. The cortex is part of the outer region of the kidneys. The medulla is the inner region. The renal pelvis is a flat and funnel-shaped cavity which will collect the urine into the ureters. [1] This organ does many things for your body, such as cleaning out the waste in your body it can also, perform approximately 200 quarts of blood; draining out 2 quarts of waste products as well as extra water. Which is the result of the urinary system. This is an essential organ that keep's the body healthy, clean and chemically balanced in the blood.

Cleaning up

The wastes that your body gets rid of is the break down of food from your digestive system. It keeps the volume in your body constant by removing substances that are un-useful or un-needed in your body ( ex: urea, ammonia, drugs, alcohol, etc.). The body takes what is needed such as nutrients to help the body function correctly, and then gets rid of unecessory wastes. [2] Your kidneys constantly adjusting, controlly, handleing and improving the [composition of your blood]. The kidney helps keep concentrations of a few [ions] and other elements constant in the body. This helps to regulate your [blood stream] and blood pressure by it's base and acidic levels, as well as rousing the making of red blood cells in your body. In addition, your kidneys do a number of things for the blood; but also for the [calcium] levels through out your whole body. The way the kidneys carry on this process is by filtering, reobsorbing, and secreteing. Just about 20 percent of plasma and non-cell fudamentals from the blood is put in to the [neuphrons], this is the "filtration" process. It may need some substances back from the lumen so it will reobsorb these back in to the blood. Then, it will "secrete" the unnecessary components out of the blood straight to the neuphron and lumen. [3] Without your kidneys your body would build up wastes and poisens, uneeded in the body. Therefore, your kidney cleans out your blood and keeps is at a substantial level by taking out the wastes out of your body. [4] In order to survive and produce functions that the body needs to live off of, the kidney, a person needs atleast one kidney.Blood delivers nutrients through out the body. Because of some cell reactions there are chemical reactions in your blood and body. Your body may have enough of a certain chemical or [nutrients] given to the body, and it may have enough of that substance. The blood in a human body is then carried by the Renal Artery. There about 1000 tiny filters called [neuphrons] in the kidney which cleans the body. The kidney's purpose is also, to create urine with all the un needed chemicals or nutrients. The urine then follows down to the uretere. This carries the urine to the bladder. The bladder then carries the urine in a sac-like 'bag'. Then comes the [urethra], which carries out the urine out of your body. This is essentially the process of the kidneys and [urinary system]. [5]

Keeping a balance

Kidneys alter the volume and balance of the chemicals in your body. This a process that occures constantly, called ["Homeostasis"]. The human body obsorbs and takes in water when the person eats vegtables or fruits and some types of foods. When your body secretes in an excersise or during the process of it trying to keep a steady temperature in your body. Even when you breathe or when you go to the bathroom (pee and poop). Your body is getting rid of the water in your body, by doing any of these processes, the amount of water intake is congruent to the amount of water your body gets rid of, always. There are certain chemicals delivered to the body when it is under going a need of water. Your brain than sends a signal to your kidneys and that reacts a hormone to occure in the kidney. When the body gets enough water or fluids this hormone level will decrease, if it is not getting enough fluids or liquids the hormone level in the kidney increases.[6]

Different Kidney Disease's

cat scan of person with polycystic kidney disease. PKD is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys.

Some common factors that may lead to a kidney disease are: Diabetes, High blood pressure and it being hereditary. [7] Some symptoms that may occure in effects of a kidney disease could be change in urination, swelling, fatigue, skin rash/itching, metallic taste in mouth/ammonia breathe, nausea and vomiting, feeling cold, dizziness and trouble concentrating, leg/flank pain. [8] There are four types of stones that can damage the kidney, they are Calcium Stones, which is the most common type of kidney stone found in patients with this disease. There is usually a lower level of Citrat in their urine.

Kidney Stones

A kidney stone is a solid mass that comes from crystals. They can sometimes get stuck in the interior of the kidneys, and are caused by infection in the urine. Is a common disease that effects not only the kidney but also the, ureter, the bladder, or the urethra. These are part of the urinary system, which is used after the kidneys have done their job in seperating the nutrients need and waste. [9]

Factors-Resulting in kindey stones

There is a more likely chance found in men to get a kidney stone three times more than a woman may.[10]
