Syria is an Arab country along the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the site of some of the most ancient of post-Diluvian civilizations. The modern government of Syria has demonstrated its hostility to the modern Republic of Israel on numerous occasions, and has harbored irregulars who have staged multiple raids and rocket attacks into Israel. Syria figures prominently--and balefully--in eschatology.
