Leah
From CreationWiki, the encyclopedia of creation science
Leah (Hebrew: לֵאָה, Lēʼāh; Arabic: ليئة, Lay'a; "Weary; tired") is the first wife of Jacob and mother of six of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, along with one daughter. She was the daughter of Laban and the older sister of Rachel, Jacob's second (and favored) wife. Jacob was her first cousin, as Jacob's mother Rebekah was Laban's sister.
She was the mother of Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah. When she stopped having children, she gave Jacob her handmaid, Zilpah, who bore two other children, Gad and Asher. They were considered Leah's legal sons. Later, Leah bore two more sons, Issachar and Zebulun, and a daughter named Dinah. When Leah died she was buried in the family tomb of Machpelah in Hebron (Genesis 49:30-31).
