Zoology is the branch of Biology that studies the animal kingdom. Biologists specialize in a wide number of zoology disciplines whose investigations include animal structures, functions, growth, origin, evolution, and distributions.

Aristotle is said to be the father of zoology. The word zoology comes from the Greek words zoon which means animal and logos which means word or study. Fauna means all the animal life in a particular region or period.
