Dimetrodons, a predatory synapsid, are not dinosaurs but their distinct feature of a large semi-circle spine on its back, scientists speculate that this was used to absorb the warmth of the sun in the morning hours because of their cold-blooded nature.

The evolutionary assumption based on origins science is that these lived during the Paleozoic Era, Permian Period while the creationist position is that dinosaur's among all other animals were created during the creation week when created by God.
