Asher (Hebrew: אשׁר, ʾĀshêr; "happy), (b.2193 AM 1967 BC

), was the second Jacob and Zilpah, he handmaid of Leah, making him the legal son of Leah. He was the ancestor of the Tribe of Asher. He had eleven brothers: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin. He also had a sister, Dinah.

, Asher entered Egypt permanently, having visited Egypt twice before to buy grain during the famine of 2236-42 AM. He was 45 years old at the time and had four named sons (Jimnah, Ishuah, Isui, and Beriah) and a daughter (Serah).
