A URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) is any string used to retrieve or call upon any kind of Internet resource. A URL is a subset of URI's that uses http:// as its header. URI's include e-mail addresses (which, however, have their own type, FTP addresses, Telnet addresses, etc.
This type is among the standard datatypes of this wiki.
